A great day was had by all, exploring the Carriglea Woodland Walk. The children enjoyed feeding the donkeys, learning about herbs, making wishes at the well and checking out the giant at the fairy fort. They were so excited to get back to school for a picnic and ice -cream in the sun. History was created yesterday by the children of Sixth Class as they won the double (hurling and football ) in the Primary Schools County Skills Competition. They travelled to SETU Arena where the sun shone as they beat off stiff competition of other schools from both East and West of the county. It was a momentous day for the children and the school and one to be so proud of. They advance to the Munster Finals on June 7th in Mallow. We wish them all the best . Well done all. The children from Juniors to Sixth have been busy taking part in a six week Zumba Dance Programme. It has been an absolute delight to see the enjoyment on their faces over the last number of weeks as they sang and danced their hearts out. On Tuesday , the entire school gathered to watch as each class performed their chosen song, culminating in a whole school performance of Green Green Grass. It was a beautiful sight and one we will remember for some time . On Thursday last the children from 5th class visited John Byrne's farm, to learn and talk about all things Farm Safety. It was such an enjoyable and educational morning, the children got to see first hand the dangers that may arise on farm. It is so important to be aware and cautious when out on the farm . Thank you to John for taking the time to speak to the children and sharing his vast knowledge. A fun filled day was enjoyed by all, as we welcomed many characters through the doors, from Red Riding Hood to Matilda to Mbappe, it was lovely to see such excitement and enthusiasm as the children proudly displayed their books.
As has become tradition, the children were busy again this year making their St Brigid's Day Crosses. Lots of fun was had by all , as their co operative skills were put to the test. This morning the boys and girls received a special zoom call from Santa. Each class got to chat and sing with him, before he magically produced a sackful of presents for all. Such wonderful excitement and of course he has asked us to pass on his best Christmas Wishes . On Thursday last our Junior and Senior Infants performed the Infant Nativity " Whoops a Daisy Angel " The children were amazing and it was truly enjoyed by all. Great to see so many smiles in one room. On Friday last the children from 3rd to 6th enjoyed a fabulous morning of Carol Singing, in aid of the Lions Club Christmas Appeal. |
