Scoil Naomh Gobnait Yard Supervision Policy Time: 11.00-11.15 Teacher on duty needs to be out at 11.00 & 1.00 13.00-13.30 walking out with/before children.
Bell: The bell needs to be collected before 11.15 & 13.30 and is then rung at 11.15 and 13.30. The bell is left in the staffroom. The bell rota is from 1st/2nd class. Children will tell teacher on duty that it is their week. Children on duty collect the bell and bring it back. The teacher/SNA on senior duty needs to tell the children the time to ring the bell.
Lunch: Children can start lunch in class at 10.55 and 12.25; they must go out at those times stated above. This will be up to the discretion of each teacher depending on the class/age of the children in the classroom. They cannot take their lunchbox out with them but can finish a sandwich outside. Children must walk in and out from classrooms quietly. No running while eating, walk and eat Children need to keep clear of the nets, which help to divide the yard.
Doors: Main door used for Rang 1 & 2,2&3,6. Side door (new building) for Rang 4, 5, & infants & ASD Class. Second ASD Class in Portakabin.
Toilets: Seek permission from teachers on duty before leaving their area and report to teacher when back out. Children upstairs to use downstairs toilet.
Children Inside: Teachers remind their class that they must go out for break. Teachers on duty will decide if it is cold/wet enough for children to go inside.Teacher must then be on duty inside. When inside children must remain downstairs with a teacher to supervise, and one teacher upstairs to supervise.
Accidents/Incidents: Teacher on duty is responsible for care and recording of accident/incident. Teacher should ask another teacher not on duty to assist. Correspond with teacher of pupil where necessary.
Sick Children: Will stay indoors – Ms. O’Brien’s classroom (beside the staffroom).
Litter Pickers Rota: From senior class. Duty performed on mornings and Monday evening.
Teacher Duty: Each teacher has a timetable of duty and one should be kept In the staffroom.. Teachers have to be outside at 11.00am & 1.00pm.
Substitute Teacher on duty: Other teacher/SNA takes charge of bell and other situations as they arise.
