.....that the job of raising funds for the school is ongoing all year. Generally there is a pattern to our fundraising, starting off with the parent contribution at the beginning of the school year, then we have the Bulb Fundraiser and the Scholastic Book Fair. We also have the clothes recycling collection which, for the last few years has been coordinated by NCBI which works for people experiencing sight loss. In the New Year we have the bag pack and then the family fun quiz which usually occurs in late spring. The money which is raised is spent on resources for the children. We are constantly upgrading and expanding the classroom resources for every class grouping and we gratefully acknowledge the help we receive from the parents' association and the community which allows us to do this.
St Gobnait's Day falls on the 11th of February and we mark the feast day of the patron saint of our school with a special assembly where the children display their art work on the theme of St Gobnait. This year. Maistir Ó hArtaigh, Ms O'Shea and three of the sixth class pupils missed the assembly because they were in Clonmel representing the Green Schools Committee. (more information on the Green Schools to follow on the Green Schools page) Meanwhile have a look at the fabulous art in the photos below. On Monday third to sixth classes went to see the annual transition year show in The Friary. By all accounts it was great. Well done to all involved in this year's production of Hairspray. Below are a few more photos from St Brigid's Day. During the week Mr Nugent and Mr Coffey went out with their scythes and managed to gather an impressive amount of rushes for the children to make the traditional St Brigid's Day Cross. Once the older children had mastered what to do they then went to the younger children and helped them to make them too. Some of the junior classes also wove St Brigid's Cloak from colourful paper. It was wonderful to see all of the children working together and enjoying themselves thoroughly.
